No — you do not need an adult yoga teaching qualification such as RYT-200 to take our training or to become a kids yoga teacher.
Personal yoga experience matters #
You will be demonstrating yoga postures to children, so we strongly recommend that you practise yoga yourself. Personal experience helps you understand the postures, breathing and relaxation techniques and demonstrate them safely. That said, we have had many students successfully complete the course without themselves practicing yoga first (for example school teachers or homeschoolers looking to learn how to teach yoga to kids themselves).
Who takes the course? #
Many students are qualified adult yoga teachers, but many others are school teachers, early-years practitioners, childcare professionals, parents or yoga enthusiasts. The course teaches the specific skills needed for safe, engaging story-based kids yoga from the beginning.
Professional requirements #
A particular employer, venue or insurer may have additional requirements, especially if a role also involves teaching adults. If you are working towards a specific job, check what that organisation needs before you enrol.
Continuing Education for adult yoga teachers #
If you are already an eligible registered yoga teacher, your study and practice hours can count towards Yoga Alliance Continuing Education once you have completed full Cosmic Kids certification.
