Do I need professional liability insurance to teach kids yoga?

Yes. If you want to teach kids yoga professionally, you will normally need suitable professional liability insurance.

Why insurance matters #

Schools and private venues commonly ask to see an insurance certificate before you teach. It demonstrates that you have cover if a claim is made in connection with your professional teaching. Depending on the policy and country, you may also need public liability cover.

How our training supports your application #

Getting Started in Kids Yoga includes children’s anatomy and development, safe posture instruction, quizzes and a practical video appraisal. The assessment covers yoga instruction, safety, pacing, use of language, storytelling and performance. You receive your Cosmic Kids certificate only after meeting the required standard.

Our experience with insurers #

Our certification has been used by graduates to arrange insurance in many countries. The assessment process was developed with input from specialist yoga insurer DSC Strand, now Wellbeing Insurance. Because insurers and policies vary, we cannot promise that every provider will offer the same cover, but we can explain the course and appraisal process if an insurer needs more information.

Other checks #

Schools and venues may also require safeguarding training and a background check, such as DBS in the UK. Always check the requirements in your location and read your policy carefully.
