“I’ve finished the training, found a venue… but how much should I actually charge for my kids yoga class?”
This is one of the most common questions we hear from new kids yoga teachers – and we get it. Money stuff can feel awkward, especially when your heart is focused on helping kids. But knowing your worth, setting clear prices, and feeling confident about what you offer is actually a big part of showing up fully for your classes.
So if you’ve been circling around this question, second-guessing what’s too much or too little – we’re here to help you take a deep breath, ground yourself, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
P.S. If you think you’d benefit from taking our business course, ‘Making a Living as a Kids Yoga Teacher’, that includes all of the below insights and much more, then check our our Kids Yoga Teacher Training course website and the course intro video below.
💡 Start with What’s Sustainable
Before you look at what others are charging or what parents might pay, start with yourself.
Ask:
- How many classes per week can you realistically (and joyfully) run?
- What would an “ideal” teaching week look like for you?
- What income would feel supportive – not just for now, but long term?
When we talk to teachers who feel overwhelmed or underpaid, it’s usually because they set prices based on what they thought people wanted – not what they needed to thrive.
You don’t need to be a financial wizard to figure this out. Just give yourself permission to choose a price that supports your energy, your lifestyle, and the work you put in behind the scenes.
⏰ It’s More Than Just Class Time
When setting your pricing, it’s easy to just think about the minutes you’re actively teaching. But a kids yoga class doesn’t start when the kids walk in—and it doesn’t end when they leave.
Here’s a peek at the invisible work that often goes into just one session:
🧠 Planning the theme and story: Picking the adventure, linking it to yoga poses, mapping out the arc, and preparing your Class Blueprint
🎲 Creating variety: Choosing a game, setting up a mindful moment, or prepping props
🧼 Getting to the venue early: Setting up mats, checking the room, cueing any music, laying out any handouts
🧳 Hauling equipment: Mats, props, eye pillows, toys, speaker, water bottle, register clipboard—basically you’re a one-person travelling yoga studio!
🗣️ Parent chats (before and after class!): Greeting families at the door, answering questions, supporting kids with wobbles etc., etc., etc.!
🧾 Admin and comms: Sending reminder emails, tracking signups, following up with parents, sorting invoices or payments.
So when you set your price, remember: you’re not just being paid for the 30 or 45 minutes of movement—you’re being paid for the care, prep, energy, and presence you bring to every part of that class.
This is why it’s so important to charge in a way that reflects the whole picture of what you’re offering.
💷 Typical Rates from Cosmic Kids Teachers
Here’s a rough guide based on feedback from our global teaching community. Remember, this really varies a lot based on both where you live, your experience / qualification level, class size and more!
Region | Typical Rate per Child |
UK | £8–£15 (up to £20 in London) |
US | $10–$20 |
Europe | €8–€15 |
Class Type | Typical Rate per Child | Notes |
Group Classes | £8–£12 | Varies by location; higher in urban areas like London. |
Preschool/Nursery | £60–£100 per session | Flat rate; depends on group size and session length. |
Private Sessions | £15–£30 per child | One-on-one or small group sessions; pricing reflects personalized attention. |
➡️ Tip: If you’re teaching at a preschool or nursery, expect a flat rate per session instead of per-child payments.
🎤 “I started with £7 per child, which felt fair and manageable. Now I’m charging £10 with full classes—and I feel confident knowing I’ve built that up slowly.”
— Jess, Certified CK Teacher
Remember, this is a starting point. Use it as a guide—not a rulebook.
Compare, contrast and benchmark…
Comparing kids yoga classes to other local children’s activities can give teachers (and families) a clear, confident frame of reference.
Here are common activities that can make great price and value comparisons:
- Arts & Crafts Classes
- Football or Sports Clubs
- Dance or Gymnastics Classes
- Music & Movement / Baby & Toddler Groups
- LEGO, Science / STEM Clubs
💡 How to Use These Comparisons
In your marketing, emails, or chats with parents:
- Mention that “our pricing is in line with similar high-quality children’s classes like [activity]”
- Emphasise that yoga offers both physical and emotional development
- Highlight that yoga also helps with school readiness, transitions, and bedtime calm—benefits that ripple beyond class time!
📉 Factor in Your Costs
Let’s keep it simple:
What you charge – what it costs to run = your profit
Even if you’re not driven by money, understanding this equation will help you stay balanced.
Think about:
- Venue hire (unless you’re teaching in a school)
- Travel and parking
- Insurance and DBS checks
- Yoga mats, props, music subscriptions
- Flyers, posters, or social ads
These are the invisible bits that make your classes shine—and they deserve to be accounted for.
🌱 What About Free Tasters and Discounts?
These can be brilliant tools—when they’re part of your plan, not a panic button.
You might:
- Offer a free taster to get a new club started at school
- Provide a sibling discount to help families
- Open up a few “pay what you can” spots in your private class
The key is intention. Not every class has to be discounted. You’re giving so much already—your energy, creativity, patience, planning—this work has value.
🧾 BONUS: Track Your Numbers
Even a basic spreadsheet will give you so much clarity.
When you can see what’s working (and what’s not), you can make smart changes without the guesswork.
In our Making a Living as a Kids Yoga Teacher course, we walk through a simple way to track your income, costs, and term planning—all designed to help you avoid the classic “feast or famine” teacher trap.
💬 How to Talk About Your Price (Without Feeling Awkward)
This is where many teachers get stuck—not with the number itself, but in saying it out loud.
Our favourite trick?
🎤 Say your price… and stop talking.
It’s such a small thing – but it changes everything. No over-explaining. No “sorrys.” No selling yourself short.
It’s just you, standing in your value, offering something amazing.
💜 You’ve Got This
You’re not just teaching poses. You’re creating confidence. You’re building calm. You’re making magic for kids.
